What is an electronic cigarette?

The Electronic Cigarette (also known as a personal vaporiser) is a battery-powered item which imitates a traditional tobacco cigarette. It delivers nicotine without any combustion or odour associated with tobacco cigarettes. Using an e-cigarette or “vaping” mimics the sensation of smoking while satisfying the hand-to-mouth requirement that smokers have.

How do e-cigarettes work?

E-cigarettes generally consist of three main parts:

  • A mouthpiece/cartridge,
  • An atomizer
  • A rechargeable battery

On many e-cigarettes, the atomizer and cartridge are within the same part, handily named a Cartomizer. On many of our models, the cartomizer is made of a clear tank and is referred to as a Clearomizer.

Upon inhalation, the heating element (atomizer) inside the unit heats the liquid nicotine (stored in the cartridge) into a fine vapour that replicates the look and feel of smoke. Click here for further information on our range of e-liquids.

What are the benefits of vaping?

  • No flame, no burning tobacco or any other substances
  • No tar
  • No unpleasant odours or tobacco smells clinging to clothes and hair
  • Not banned under the UK smoking ban
  • Simulates smoking
  • Less costly than smoking
  • No smoke irritation to your eyes
  • Huge choice of flavours of liquid.
  • Controllable nicotine level, available in 0mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg and 24mg.
  • More flexible – you can take one or two puffs if you want, rather than feeling you have to finish or waste a whole cigarette.
  • No more matches, lighters, ashtrays or smelly cigarette butts.

What is e-liquid?

E-liquid or nicotine liquid is the names given to the diluted nicotine fluid that is used in e-cigarettes. This liquid is purchased separately in our stores so that you can refill when the liquid runs dry.

In order to mimic the true nicotine yield of a traditional cigarette a solution is produced which contains a fixed percentage of nicotine. For example, a 24mg cartridge is made from a solution which contains 24mg nicotine per 100ml of liquid or expressed as a percentage, approximately 2.4% nicotine.

How long do the parts last?

Generally the atomizers and batteries last about 6-10 weeks, dependent on usage.

Many of our outlets offer you a month guarantee on all parts*, so if one of your parts stops working, you can return it for a replacement within this 30 days time period.

Most of our specifications allow for 100 charges, which is roughly 3 months. However, with regular maintenance and cleaning many users have found their battery to last a lot longer than this.

*guarantees vary between suppliers and vendors. Guarantee excludes physical damage, dependent on presentation of proof of purchase and the product
